As we sauntered into our friends' kitchen, in anticipation of a delicious home-cooked meal, we were handed glasses of a refreshing sparkling wine that we downed while watching the making of the feast. These friends are the most adventurous and skillful at this very task. I couldn't help but comment on the smell of spices that filled the kitchen, and when handed the cookbook from which our meal was inspired, I found there were no less than 25 ingredients required, most of them exotic spices and hard to find ingredients.

Poetic Corner Spot For Pizza

When I hear a place mentioned a couple of times in one week, it causes me to stop and listen – especially when the restaurant is neither new nor fancy. Having recently moved back from New York City, I've been lamenting the dearth of decent pizza in Orlando, and people keep confidently mentioning Cornerstone Pizza, a dive-y joint on Michigan Street, at the corner of Ferncreek Avenue. My appetite for a slice was keen.

Out of the Red, White and Blue

One of my guilty pleasures is a good ol' hot dog, smeared with mustard and topped with sauerkraut. When I heard of All American Hot Dogs, it was mere days before I found my way to Waterford Lakes Town Center to give it a try. This east-side stand takes a dedicated dog eater to find it, hidden in the amalgam of commerce just a stone's throw from UCF.
